“Mobile is everything” but sex

It is an ordinary Friday at our offices in Calle Aribau; It’s 11 o’clock and everything is still normal. Until they knock on the door. Someone gets up to open and when they see who is in front of them, they stay in shock.

They are two men. Two very important men! From there it start to be a friday that is no longer a Friday, no one from the office was expected to have them with us, and without even notice it. The two mysterious men want to talk to us.

Once inside, the men in black sit down with the CEO of Apricots, Javier Martínez, visibly curious to hear how he can help them. In an almost innocent way, they begin to explain the reason for their visit, whose summary is as follows:

The Mobile World Congress is falling (February 22-25, at the Fira de Barcelona) and the city will be filled with professionals from the mobile sector. It is the case that Apricots has a huge billboard on the Gran Vía, clearly visible when arriving from the El Prat airport to Barcelona city. This billboard says “Apricots. Trustworthy Call Girls “. In previous years the MWC has been the center of some controversy related to the paid sex sector. Apparently when MWC executives arrive, prostitutes in Barcelona begin to lubricate due to the increase in demand.

To “create a comfortable atmosphere for the MWC delegates” , they ask us to remove our billboard from the Gran Vía during the Mobile World Congress, and we are so naive because we though that our romantic music and candles will be enough to convince them.

The CEO of Apricots, staying somewhat dislocated, asks for a few days to think about the proposal, but, thinking, thinking, he realizes that he does not need a few days. You already know exactly what line Apricots has, so your answer comes after a few seconds:

Apricots will remove its billboard, but this agreement with the GSMA will have to be public .

Considering that you are reading these words, and that became very big in the media , it is clear that the MWC bosses have accepted our proposal. Since last Wednesday, February 17th, our Gran Vía fence is no longer there welcoming tourists who come to Barcelona.

The meeting on that Friday was news that was worth telling, because imagine that instead of this happening, you would have decided to silence everything with that dirty thing that is money. The old story would have been repeated: a big company buying the silence of another small company, what sadness and what little originality, right? But luckily they have found us …
